Installation

Step 1 – Download

Go to the download page and download the latest ZIP file:

WerWirdMillionaer-vX.X-win-x64.zip

Step 2 – Extract

Extract the ZIP file to any folder on the PC (e.g. C:\Games\WerWirdMillionaer\).

Step 3 – Launch

Double-click to start:

WerWirdMillionaer.exe

On first launch, Windows may show a security prompt — click "Run anyway".

Step 4 – Check Connection

Make sure the server at https://millionaer.suchanek.saarland/ is reachable and the admin panel is active. No game can be started without a server connection.

Game Mode Selection

When the application launches, a selection window appears with three game modes. Your choice determines which windows open and who controls the game.

ModeDescriptionWindows
Single PlayerYou play alone — no contestant, no audience in the room. You control the game yourself via keyboard on the contestant screen.Contestant + Audience
MultiplayerThe contestant is in the room with you. You host via the separate Host screen. All windows run on this PC.Host + Contestant + Audience
Remote CandidateYou are the contestant. The host runs the game on a separate PC. This device shows the game board and audience screen and automatically mirrors the game state from the server every 500 ms. No keyboard control on this device.Contestant + Audience
Note (Remote Candidate): The host must launch the software in Multiplayer mode and run the game normally. The candidate device connects automatically to the running game and reflects all changes (questions, answers, reveal, lifelines) in real time.

Camera (Audience Screen)

The software supports a live camera image on the audience screen. The camera is enabled by default — if no camera is connected or the camera is disabled in the admin panel, the game flow is unchanged.

When and how does the camera appear?

Game phaseCamera display
Start screen & Rules ModeBackground – the camera runs as soon as it is connected and enabled. The game board is not overlaid.
After a correct answer (all questions)Full screen – the camera fills the entire audience screen, overlaid with a blue banner showing the earned amount. This state holds until the next Spacebar press.
Segment transition from question 6 onwards (safety levels)Side by side – camera appears to the right of the money ladder, shown on the first Spacebar press of the transition.
While a question is activeNo camera image – the game board takes priority.

Setup in the Admin Panel

  1. Open the admin panel: https://millionaer.suchanek.saarland/wwm-admin/
  2. Navigate to "Kameraeinstellungen" (Camera Settings)
  3. Check or uncheck: Kamera aktiviert (Camera enabled)
  4. Select your camera: The page automatically lists all detected cameras. Click the one you want — a live preview appears directly in the browser. Choose "Automatisch" (Automatic) to always use the first available camera.
  5. Click "Aktivieren" (Activate) – the setting is picked up immediately by the running client; no restart required.
Note: If the game is already running when you open Camera Settings, the browser preview cannot open the camera (it is already in use by the game). In that case: close the game → select your camera on this page → restart the game.

Per-Licence Camera Setting

Each licensee can independently enable, disable, and select their camera via their own admin account. The setting applies only to their own licence and does not affect other users. Administrators also control a system-wide camera permission that applies to all users.

Note: If no camera is connected or the camera is disabled in the admin panel, the blue prize box will appear as before without a video feed.

Interrupted Candidate

If Q (show closing) is pressed between two questions, the software automatically saves the candidate's name and current level. When the next game starts, that candidate is restored:

  • The host overlay displays a reminder, e.g. "▶ Continuation: Max Mustermann (from Question 5)"
  • In Rules Mode, the bar automatically jumps to the saved level
  • The moderator cannot move the bar manually in this state — it is fixed at the interrupted candidate's level

This allows a show to be paused and resumed seamlessly at a later point.

Game Flow Step by Step

All control is via keyboard. The host operates the PC. The contestant sees the game board on a separate screen or projector.

Prerequisite: Select a game mode when the application launches (see Game Mode Selection). The flow below applies to Multiplayer mode (with Host screen). In Single Player mode there is no Host screen; keyboard control runs on the contestant screen. In Remote Candidate mode there is no keyboard control on this device at all.

Phase 1 – Show Opening

Key I → Show intro starts (host enters, music begins)

Once the show intro music begins, the AI host announcement plays automatically: a voiceover announces the host by name. Music and applause are ducked during the announcement and then fade back in. The entrance sound starts immediately after the announcement ends.

Press I again to trigger the host's entrance animation manually if needed.

Phase 2 – Invite Contestant (Hotseat Intro)

Spacebar → Contestant intro starts
(contestant is shown on screen, hotseat music plays)

Wait for the sequence to complete before proceeding.

Phase 3 – Show Rules & Money Ladder

Spacebar → Money ladder view (Rules Mode)

While in Rules Mode:

KeyFunction
/ Move the orange highlight bar up/down the money ladder
F1Ping / highlight Lifeline 1 (50:50) icon
F2Ping / highlight Lifeline 2 (Phone) icon
F3Ping / highlight Lifeline 3 (Audience) icon
F4 / F5Switch game variant (e.g. with or without 4th lifeline)
SpacebarExit Rules Mode → game starts

Phase 4 – Game On (Questions & Answers)

From here, Spacebar drives the entire reveal flow:

Spacebar → Show question text
Spacebar → Reveal answer A
Spacebar → Reveal answer B
Spacebar → Reveal answer C
Spacebar → Reveal answer D

Once all four answers are visible:

Key A / B / C / D → Select an answer (contestant states their choice)
Key Enter → Confirm the answer (FINAL! Music & reveal begin)
Important: Enter is irreversible. The answer can still be changed after selecting (A/B/C/D) but before pressing Enter.

After a Wrong Answer or Voluntary Exit

Once the correct answer is revealed, the closing sequence runs fully automatically:

  1. The "contestant leaving" sound (approx. 9 seconds) starts automatically.
  2. When the sound ends, all screens (host/moderator, contestant, audience) are reset automatically.
  3. From this point a new round can be started immediately (invite the next contestant).
No Spacebar press is needed to reset the board after a resolution.

The Phone lifeline starts a prepared or live call sequence. Music pauses; the call audio plays. After the conversation, the host returns to the question.

Usage: Press F2.

The audience votes. A bar chart with percentage results appears on the game board. The contestant can see which answer the audience favors.

Usage: Press F4 (starts lifeline). For Live Audience: press F4 again (ends lifeline).

Fastest Finger (Multiplayer Mode)

In multiplayer mode, a Fastest Finger round is played first to determine who sits in the hot seat.

Contestant Form (fill in before the game)

Before the game starts, each contestant fills in the online form on their own device:

Note: The form data persists after submission and is only cleared by clicking the "Formular leeren" (Clear form) button shown after submission, or by a new submission with the same name.

The ad break hides the game board and plays a transition sequence.

Show Closing

Key Q → Initiate closing sequence

Q is only available after at least one question has been asked and while no answer is actively being selected. After the closing, press I to start a new show.

Announcement & Hints

TTS Host Announcement

At show start, an AI voiceover announces the host by name (e.g. "Welcome — your host: [Name]!"). The announcement plays automatically in sync with the show intro music and requires no key press.

Configuration in the admin panel:

  1. Log into the admin panel: https://millionaer.suchanek.saarland/wwm-admin/login.php
  2. Select "Ansage & Hilfestellungen" (Announcement & Hints) in the sidebar
  3. Check "Ansage aktivieren" (Enable announcement)
  4. Enter the host's name – leave blank to use the name from the licence registration
  5. Choose the form of address: Moderator (he) or Moderatorin (she)
  6. Optional: Direkteingabe – enter a fixed text that will always be spoken exactly as written (placeholders {name} and {titel} available)
  7. Click "Speichern" (Save)
Quick access: In the live section ("Live-Eingriff""Ansage" tab), the enable toggle, name, and custom text can be adjusted quickly just before or during the show.

Host Notes (Live Overlay)

In the admin panel's live section, the licensee can send a short text note to the host screen at any time. The note appears as an overlay on the host's PC – invisible to the contestant and audience.

Typical Use Cases:

  • Messages from the production team (e.g. "5 minutes of airtime left!")
  • Quick info about the next contestant
  • Reminders about special questions or schedule changes
  • Technical notes during the live show

How to Use:

  1. Log into the admin panel as a licensee: https://millionaer.suchanek.saarland/wwm-admin/login.php
  2. Select "Ansage & Hilfestellungen" in the sidebar (or "Live-Eingriff""Hinweis" tab)
  3. Type the desired text into the input field
  4. Click "Senden" (Send) – the note appears instantly on the host screen
Note: The displayed text stays visible until it is cleared or overwritten from the admin panel. It is only shown on the host PC – not on the contestant or audience screen.

Tutorial Hints

On the same page there is a "Tutorial Hints" toggle. When enabled, contextual key guides appear on the host screen showing the currently relevant keys for each game phase (e.g. I → start intro, SPACE → reveal, ENTER → confirm). A manually sent web note always takes priority and replaces the tutorial hint for as long as it is active.
